Austria & Hungary 06/06 to 10/06 2008 "Who swopped the Railtour loco!"
A trip to Vienna to do an OBB Nostalgiezug to Keszthely, lots of required track for an Austrian loco and planned to be an OBB 2050 diesel throughout. We flew in on the 5th for 2 nights in Vienna.

The day of the Railtour, even though we were staying in a Hotel in the middle of Vienna a very early taxi was required!
This was followed by great disappointment on my part, OBB had taken so many bookings for this tour that they bumped up the loading by a couple of extra coaches - which led them to decide a single 2050 would not cope so they swopped it for a 2143! Cheers then.

My dismay at suffering the 2143 was dispelled somewhat once we crossed the border into Hungary, all new track for a 2143 instead of a 2050 so still worth doing the tour.
As we rolled into Keszthely station I saw Ferenc Hoo & a few others lineside, photting the tour arriving. I was going to nip out of the station & say my hello's but the heavens opened at that moment - a downpour of Biblical proportions put paid to that idea!

We had only planned to do the outward leg of the tour, we had decided to spend our next few days in Hungary. We once again had a room booked at the Hotel Gabriella in Tapolca, so after a fine afternoon al fresco 3 course meal we relaxed in Tapolca for the evening.
